"this is the one that'll get you out there.
if you know two-step, you can dance to pretty
much anything. the two-step is broken up into
3 dvds so each one is very thorough... there
is alot of detail for just a "beginner's
video". it will definitely get you out there
and dancing and then some!" S. Preston (NV)

Picture yourself navigating the crowded
dance floor at a country-western nightclub. The
acceleration in the two-step pattern is
exhilarating as you execute the complex turns
andspins that are trademarks of a great
two-step. If you are the follower, the lights
and the faces of your fellow dancers blur, with
the
For the leader, it is a slightly different
story. Your view of the dance floor is much
closer to that of a video game; with each step
your perspective changes as you advance around
the floor, with new obstacles to avoid and your
path constantly adjusting to the rapid changes
on the dance floor.
The leader’s mind is rapidly clicking
through the different moves available to him
and fitting the best one to the immediate
situation, ever mindful of the constant tempo
of the two-step and his partner’s
placement. As you and your partner master this
dance, the realization strikes that for the
dancer, the two-step transcends the music -
it's an exhilarating challenge in navigation
and lead-and-follow dancing that is difficult
to match in the genre of social dance.

visualize the
two-stepBefore starting your dance
lessons, it’s recommended you take a few
minutes to watch the two-step demo above and
also the two-step starter pack preview in this
section to allow your mind’s eye to start
processing ideas on how to get your body to do
what you’re watching. Visualizing the
two-step will give you a good feel for what
you’re about to learn and will make the
transition into reality that much easier once
you get started with your own two-step
DVDs.
Also, it'll be best if you watch the first
two-step section one time through (once you
receive Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1)
without trying to do any of it (this section is
written for Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1;
though there are two-step lessons in Dance
Lessons 101, Country Western Dance Sampler, and
Hot Country Dancing for
Couples, the lessons are not nearly as
comprehensive). Just give your mind a chance to
absorb the material so it’s somewhat
familiar to you when you hit replay to start
the section over again. Watch how the dancers
move around the dance floor (this one’s
not in place, so take note), think about the
words that are used, and picture yourself
dancing the two-step.
The second time you watch it, it’s
recommended that you take notes. Jot down the
important parts of the two-step so you can
engage other parts of the kinesthetic
learning prior to getting
up and dancing along. Write down what the
connection points are, what the basic steps are
called, how many counts are in a basic, how to
align with your partner, and so on. Also, write
down any questions that you might have about
the two-step. There’s a good chance you
will find the answer later on in DVD, and if
it’s something you’re already
pondering, you’ll be sure to remember the
answer.
You’ll find that by time you get ready to
stand up and try the two-step with the video,
the dancing won’t be nearly as
overwhelming. Writing down the key concepts
will allow you to get a jumpstart on the rest
of the basics. You’ll find that after you
get up and try it, you’ll probably have
more questions. As the video lesson goes on,
the steps will be broken out with great detail,
pointers will be given on where you should be
during different parts of the dance, and
frequently asked questions will be addressed
that should satisfy most, if not all, of your
questions and then some.
The third time you view the DVD, go ahead and
dance along with it. See how far you can make
it just by watching and trying. You’ll
probably find that one of the two of you is
able to pick up and understand the material
quicker than the other.
Now, you should be able to visualize yourself
dancing the two-step. Then, picture yourself
doing the two-step at upcoming events or at
local venues where you and your partner can go.
Where will you go out dancing after you learn
the two-step? Start thinking of the
possibilities. Now, if you're ready to look at
the two-step DVDs that will get you started,
check the images below. After the products,
we'll go through some of the basics. This will
give you an idea of how the video lessons are
taught and to what detail.
